well, it's out on dvd now, man the smurfs got tall...and for the third time in a row i saw it with my father. the movie in general, not the dvd, it just came out today and it's 3 hrs long. honest. i didn't even watch the whole thing.

but this was another movie that my father and i saw together. this is one of the few things that we can do together. there is usually a theme when it comes to movies we go to, dragons, wizards, magic or lasers. he was the person that took me to see the empire strikes back when i was 4 or 5. he's also the man that left me in the ticketholder line with a stranger while he bought tickets, it was 1980. we've seen all the star wars movies together in one format or another, lord of the rings, watch the 5th element on a regular basis and i just turned him on to aeon flux...well, that was worded wrong.

but the fun stuff ends there i guess. after movies we don't really have anything in common. we were at one time reading the same books, but i think we od'd on fantasy literature. that was a mutual decision, we'd both gone a bit too far reading long, drawn out series. i'm thinking of getting him into the dark tower series, figure that might expand his horizons a little bit but still remain in the same vein he's used to. but as with all our family, we don't like change, so who knows if he'll like that series.

re-bought a collection of kafka the other day...i'm in heaven. he's like poppy z brite for me, i buy stuff by them, read it and pass it on...and then stop talking to the person i leant it to.

and mr blackskull is scheming scheming scheming...i'm gonna be living there within the year methinks...can't wait.

father, movies
