I need some advice from you guys.
Basically, I'm not happy with the way my schooling is going.
Since I've already taken 3 years of physics, I'm pretty bored in physics 1. I've already learned most of what physics 1 and physics 2 have to offer, and I'm not doing well in physics 1 because I'm not motivated enough to put forth much effort. However, I am doing very well in my chemistry and my C++ programming classes.
So basically, I am considering between several options.
1. I stick with physics and tough through two more semesters of old material until I get to more interesting stuff.
2. I change majors to computer sciences or engineering, which would more suit the video game future that I seek.
3. I add chemistry as a minor. Chemistry and physics go well together, apparently.
4. I transfer schools. FIT is costing me 25,000 a year on top of the scholarships I've earned.
A. I would transfer to a state school where my Bright Futures scholarship would pay for everything.
B. I transfer to a different school where I think that I could get the type of future that I want. I am considering USC's game design course or SCAD's game design course.
1. USC - It is very far away and would cost me a plane ticket every time I want to go home. Also, I believe the school would cost as much
as FIT is costing me, except that I'd be getting a waaay better education (that is, if I could even transfer in). The classes are a lot
more difficult and would require more effort on my part.
2. SCAD - The courses required for the major have a lot of aesthetic art involved on top of programming. The programming I'm excited
about, but the art classes are the ones I'm worried about. It would be a great benefit to be able to create character models on top
of making games, but I'm not that great at character design and fear that these classes would be my weakpoint.
I just don't know anymore.
I wish I had a what-if machine so I could tell what each outcome would be and I would just pick the one I liked the most. *sigh*
On the upside, my parents are paying for me to play Final Fantasy XI, which is an online MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game, for those not savvy). I'm already a level 4 warrior. ^_^
Now I'm off to go fight dragons.
