✿ need some silence from the loud
Anushika was born to a happy forest Pixie family several hundred years ago. She has no tragic past, no stifling horrors - just a mother and father who love her and kept her safe and sound. They went among humans every so often, in disguise, doing good deeds - Pixies are, if nothing else, a benevolent race. Anushika grew up very slowly, as all of her kind are wont to do - she wasn't fully grown until she was into her third century, but life continued in the same ilk nonetheless and she stopped aging after. They would visit other families and other sorts of beings often, but visiting humans got more and more rare as the nineteenth, the twentieth, and finally the twenty-first centuries came upon them. Her family and friends seemed sad but content enough with the change, but Anushika found it appalling.
Not the act in general, but that they felt they had to. It was no longer safe among humans, they told her - but why shouldn't it be? Eventually, fed up, she decided to prove that it was possible to still be among humans. She moved to the city, of all places - some huge, brightly-lit thing in California. She went alone, and set up a past - it was easy enough to get people to believe her, to set it all up with alibis. She couldn't lie, but she could encourage changes to the truth if she needed to. She had done her research beforehand - the new customs, new technologies she had never seen before, and just people in general.
Sometimes the atmosphere and pollution bear down on her but she manages, working and living with humans as though she is one of them.
She has a job at a coffee shop and volunteers at a library, and lives in a little apartment with a Chihuahua (he told her his name is Juan by his mother, so who is she to argue?) and a Budgie (Sadie, by her father).
✿ and noisy crowds
Anushika is small and slight of frame, but not so much as one would think from a Pixie - she stands about five foot even and while that's small, she's still - well, still the size of humans, basically. In her natural state her skin is green and eyes are black, with black, messy hair and pointed ears. While she has wings she rarely uses them for more than hovering about mere inches from the ground - they're a bit small for her stature (a birth defect, but not crippling) and any long-distance flying tires her out too much. Her fingers are long but not quite spindly - a piano player's hands, if you will.
Her disguise for mucking about with humans is simple - no wings, lighter hair, pale complexion and brown eyes. Her ears are no longer pointed, though her stature remains the same.
Her way of dress tends to remain the same either way - ever changing depending on her mood, from jeans and a sweater to a frilled and tea-dyed dress. One main difference is that while she shuns shoes in her natural form, in human disguise she will wear them.
✿ and I'm trying to catch a breath
Anushika is not a quiet being - she enjoys the loud, the raucous. She is kind but not overwhelmingly so - she is ambivalent to the human race as a whole, preferring to aid only those she cares for personally. On a rare occasion she will perform random acts of kindness - half for amusement, half to help - and sometimes it's not so much an act of kindness as a prank. She is fiercely loyal though to those she does care for, and will help them in any manner that she is able.
She has something of a child-like innocence to her - she finds interest in nearly everything, and joy in the oddest places. She is wary of getting to know new humans, however, because while she knows the workings of animals, humans are far more unpredictable and she would rather not get burned. That isn't to say she doesn't get to know as many as possible - what better way to know more about humans as a whole and be able to discern friend from foe than to get to know them?
Needless to say, the number of humans that know that she isn't one of them is rather low.
✿ through the air of death
Any abilities are nothing too special - she can fly short distances, she can disguise herself to go among humans undetected, and she has various small magics she can use for various purposes - she can make plants grow faster, she can cheer people up inexplicably if she so chooses, she can urge people to believe the things she says unquestioningly, so on and so forth. Flowers don't exactly spring from her step, but you get the picture.
She cannot die unless she is killed - immortal but not invulnerable. She does not get sick, and she can ease sickness in others, though not remove it entirely. She can communicate with animals, plants and other creatures of the wood, though she finds some to be boring and doesn't bother.
