whee! Flotillas of huge pelicans that dive-bomb fish!
hmmm. Lime+jalapeno candy (skipped due to corn syrup; reportedly the tamarind+jalapeno is better.)
yum: packaged mole sauce for lazy people (if we go back to the market I will be picking up some sauces to take home with us, though we may not need to)
also yum: Mexican ice cream and cheese are both lovely rich and creamy. They take their leche very seriously here. Brad has been walking across to a local restaurant in the mornings to get lovely Mexican chocolate for us.
yay: blue blue blue sky and sea. It's pretty noisy here during the day but the sound of the surf at night is the most relaxing thing ever.
scary: cruise ships exactly as big as hotel towers tipped on their sides.
neat: weird cthulhu alien chair statues on the Malacan. Plus lots of other neat statues; we went walking there last night.
uh oh: we brought about 2/3rds the books that we ought to have. Last night I discovered that Mexican TV is just as bad as American, with extra incomprehensibility, and I am starting to eye the extruded airport books in the little store downstairs as better than no books at all.
flee! The hotel apparently has a big fiesta on Thursdays so we're probably going to go out to avoid it. We are more into siestas than fiestas.
weird but cool: waking up at 7-8am local time. I can't remember if that's ahead of or behind PST, but either way it is very early for me. I don't normally think of vacations as doing GOOD things for my circadian.
