The kids in suburban Birmingham remind me of the kids in the Greenspring Valley of Baltimore. They look like attractive people kept breeding for years and years, and so the pictures on your posts are big and the text is short.
If you randomly click myspace links...it's like...huh...how many perfect thin blondes does this world really need?
(Oh, and, yeah, Kelly...you are the intellectual in the group. Or the future entrepreneur. That shows.)
Now...in San Francisco...it's the opposite. Posts are 12 paragraphs long and sound like Dennis Miller wrote them. "Wow...I'm been getting such an oedipus complex ever since the last anime festival and blah blah yack yack." And there are no photos.
Well...actually...a friend posted a picture of a group at her Stanford dorm one day and everyone looked like a future professor. Thin and thinning or dowdy or...kind of like DC. The best and the brightest are not exactly the most personable.
But...see...both groups end up worrying about: How will I ever stand out when the whole world is so...intellectual...or attractive? And...it really isn't...it's just what you SEE around you.
But it's cool. One group emphasizes pictures and the other words. It says a lot about how each sees themselves. Strengths and all.
Amanda look healthy and happy. And...hopeful.
