Everything had fallen into place after Edward had retrieved his body from beyond the gate, just as Alphonse had imagined things would. He noticed that the only difference was the way Edward’s glances changed from awe to something else that lay behind those amber eyes.
So it didn’t surprise Alphonse when their routine started to include touches that lingered longer than necessary, an embrace with Edward nestled into his arms, and finally the brush of lips against his. Alphonse never felt the need to bring it up partly because he knew Edward would never say it out loud and partly because he didn’t think it needed to be said in the first place.
He was entirely content in not labeling their relationship. Simply put, they were the Elric brothers. Two against the world. They only had each other and it only made sense that they lived for one another.
