It was one of those days… The kind where Alphonse felt a little too sluggish to do anything of substance today, though he had to admit that spending the day with his brother doing absolutely nothing had been worth it.
Noticing that Edward had fallen asleep, Alphonse contemplated on finishing his paperwork yet couldn’t bring himself to leave just yet. In the end, he decided to lay down next to Edward, resting his head on the same pillow.
“Goodnight, brother.” He murmured. Slowly, he closed his eyes and let out a deep, content sigh. Alphonse didn’t even mind that it was only 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

Edward had fallen asleep next to him and all Alphonse could do for the past ten minutes was stare. His brother looked so peaceful when he slept. His expression was calm, more relaxed, as if he had nothing to worry about. His brows were no longer knitted and all the harsh lines weren’t as prominent as before.
Alphonse noticed that Edward’s lips were slightly parted, his chest rising and falling slowly. It was now or never; He decided to take a chance on something he had been mulling over lately. Alphonse hovered over his brother’s body, leaning in, and closed his eyes. He hoped that Edward wouldn’t wake up but he had to try this… Just this once.
