Hello, LJ land. I know I've been neglecting you a lot lately. In part, it's because livejournal is, well, getting left behind, technologically speaking. When was the last time it got an upgrade? The posting and management interfaces still suck, and reading it on my phone really sucks.
And you've all gone over to the
dark side, anyway.
But! In case you weren't paying attention -- we got a kitten! So now I can bring you mindless overloads of brain melting cuteness ALL THE TIME!
OK, some of the time.
OK, once in a while.
I keed, I keed!
Anyway, how did this happen? Well, first of all, it's because
phreddiva's boy Luke is a complete mensch. Somehow, he spotted a kitten on the shoulder of northbound I880, with nothing but asphalt and soundwall for a 1/4 mile in either direction. Said mensch proceeded to rescue said kitten from said freeway.
Meanwhile, Das Wench and I were looking for a companion for the neurotic-cat-named-after-a-neurotic-dancer, and saw the
zomg cute greasemonkey kitteh photo Marisa posted, and before you can say snorglesnorglesnorgle, we adopted the kitteh. Kept him in quarantine until Monday when Arguello Pet Hospital opened, where we got him checked for FIV and FeLV (both negative, yay), vaccinations, etc... and could finally introduce him to Nijinsky (who was already very suspicous of the THING we'd been hiding from him).
Supervised socialization continues. Kitten will not be getting unsupervised run of the house for a few days yet, but so far Nijinsky is suspicious, but tolerant. Not a bad start. The kitten needs a name - suggestions? His middle name is Nimitz, since Luke found him on the Nimitz Freeway. Although that might end up his name by force of inertia.
Anyway, I know you're just waiting for me to shut up and give you -- KEETON PEEKCHURS!
Oh yeah -- and he's polydactyl! He'll barely sit still for toe-counting, but he's got at least 7 on each paw, and enormous pseudo-thumbs. Which he can grab string with.
