[screened towards Bats | heroes | people Robin considers capable.]

You've probably noticed people talking about a tournament. Sounds like it's going to be really cool -- just the sort of thing I -- and I imagine a fair number of you -- would go for. Which is why I'm sitting it out -- I figure, recent arrivals might be having similar thoughts, and if the ball was any indication, big events could equal the chance ( Read more... )

[OOC: I guessed Jing might be on this filter, if not please disregard.]

I know the track record for things going right here isn't exactly a shining beacon of regular, but there ARE some things that are what they're said to be. I can't promise that this will go off without a hitch -- no one can -- but without opportunities to exercise ourselves (and I don't just mean physically) one of two things would happen. Either we'd be so bored we'd start MAKING trouble, or we'd be so paranoid that we'd all be trying to kill each other over groundless suspicion and grudges.

I understand not wanting to be caught unaware, but some of us need this kind of thing once in a while.

I don't think he is against the event itself. I think he's actually for it, he's just worried about other people making trouble at the same time.

Are you discouraging self-appointed security in your new order? Even if everything does go smoothly, the practice becomes an exercise in itself.

Robin, I don't really like the idea of fighting for sport, so I'm not participating. If you need an extra set of eyes let me know.

Thanks, Heero. Looks like I got more in the way of volunteers than I was expecting. How about you go, be our man in the crowd, and support Relena?

There's always going to be people that make trouble. That doesn't mean we should all just sit on our hands and do nothing.

[sounds slightly aggravated]

How many times do I have to tell people? I didn't want to be "in charge" of anything but no one else was going to get that council done! That doesn't make it my anything.

Didn't mean to offend.

[sigh]

No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's only that in my own world, I don't... follow rules. It seems ridiculous that I should suddenly start handing them out to people and expecting them to listen. There are so many more people here that are much more suited to this kind of thing, but no one stepped up. It was frustrating...

It's understandable. I agree that efforts to organize have proved frustrating.

((Jing is totally on this filter -- Robin's pretty impressed by him.))

Don't get me wrong, I think the tournament is a great idea, for exactly those reasons. If the Joker wasn't here, I'd be all over it.

You're taking part? I'll be cheering for you, Jing.

Joker?

... I need the distraction.

A criminal from a world like mine. He's a sadistic, twisted killer -- pretty much the last person we wanted to see here.

[unhappy mutter in the background]

Why does the Warden... tch.

The cuffs won't let anyone kill anyone else here. With that, still what should we be looking out for?

...

More people I knew have disappeared. I just want something else to focus on right now.

He likes causing chaos, destruction, pain -- he's interested in how people react under conditions of extreme duress. So -- nothing good.

Ah. I hope the tournament delivers then. And -- when this is over, if you still find you need something to focus on, I'm always good for a spar.
