About two weeks ago I found an aquarium with all the amenities at a garage sale. She was asking only $15 for everything, but saw my reticence and knocked it down to $10. I took it. I spent time getting it cleaned up and set it up and was waiting for my next paycheck to get some fish for it. That time finally came last night. I was thrilled to come home with several neon tetras, black neon tetras, red mickey mouse platys, and a placo (the algae eater). I was astonished this afternoon to find a tiny little baby fish in the tank! It is about .5cm in length. That's a guess and I'm terrible at that kind of stuff, but Chris said that he didn't think it was even a centimeter. I was really excited, but a bit concerned about it getting gobbled up by one of the other fish. I called Petsmart (where I got the fish) and told them what I had and about the new fish. He said that there was a 50% chance the fish would make it on its own. He told me that I could get a breeder box if I wanted to assure the little guy(?) growing up strong. So tonight, on our way home from dinner with the Quinlans (all of them!) we stopped at Wal-Mart and I got a net breeder. I couldn't wait to get home and see if the little fish was still alive and put him in a safe place. We got home and found one little fish and caught him and put him in the breeder. While I was watching him swim around I discovered two more! So, I caught those and put those in the breeder. After putting Ryan to bed, I came back down to check my email. I stopped by the tank and found another. Then, another two. The total, as of now, is NINE baby fish! I really got a deal when I bought that prego fish!!! I can't wait to see how quickly they grow! They are so tiny that they hardly even look real. It is very cool. Chris is going to get a picture for me soon. As soon as we have it, one of us will post it. So cool!
