Further Proof

I was talking to Irina about Judaism today. Apparently, the Jewish people have no such belief as Hell and no such person as Satan in their faith. She said everyone goes to Heaven.

I didn't know this.

She said there isn't any dispute about this among different sects (and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in sects or sects at all in the Jewish faith). My eyes lit up so much when she told me this that she told me I could always convert.

All that false prophet stuff predicted in the Bible seems to be a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. I mean if I make something completely up called Hell and Satan, write it down in a book, and then a few chapters into it, tell you that people are going to lie to you about God, wouldn't you say, "Duh."

When do Catholics say Hell was invented and Satan was born anyway?

Is this a huge contributing factor in antisemitism? Hell and all that business is a pretty effective tool, I suppose, to keep people in line. The very idea that the powers that may be might not catch you goofing off, but God will, and you'll get yours, so you better behave? Maybe that's why there seems to be a periodic hatred for Jews. People start talking about fearing God. You better be good, and other's say, "Hell Schmell."
