Tomorrow
I think Thursday will be Offensive Weekly Essay Day. Wednesday is already Occasional Useless Poll Day, so I don't want to muscle in or rain on mtffm's parade. I think the essays are working because my LJ friend that this is suppose to help posted today that she wants the entire human race to die of viral infection. While that is pretty offensive, I think it still isn't one of her pent up topics. We are wearing her down though, and soon the floodgates will open to release all the bile. :)
alabina suggested the following for this week's topic. I think it has a lot of potential for being really offensive. You can blame anyone or anything. She suggests that you try not to inject any of your own agenda in the topic, but I'll remind you that that is exactly what you want to do. You want to offend someone, and what better way to do that than use this topic to get all that crap you've been holding in for so long and let them have it! I certainly will be bending it to suit my own needs. You can count on that.
So, this is a little forewarning if you want to write yours tomorrow.
I'd like to know what people think are the factors that contribute to kids shooting other kids, principals, etc. in schools all over the country.
I don't think anyone has it all figured out, so I don't approach the topic with my own agenda.
Cases have been made for peer scapegoating (the kid picked on "loses it"), kids just going psychotic for unknown reasons, bad parents, accutane (acne medication - don't laugh - there is some actual evidence to support it can cause psychosis, violent computer gaming...
It is quite a problematic mystery of much importance.
