computer stuff

I mentioned elsewhere that my home PC's hard drive started becoming flaky to the point where it would stop booting up. Even after a Windows reinstall, it would only work for a while before failing again. And I discovered this in the midst of my fever. Ugh.

So, we bit the bullet and bought a new PC. Probably a good thing that this happened while I was still employed, and before I had spent my unexpected holiday bonus. And I was pleasantly surprised to see how much prices had fallen. Got a Dell E310.

Anyway, it's up and running. After struggling through some technical hurdles with which I won't bore you, I was also able to hook it up to the old PC's hard drive, and so far it looks like all our data was intact. Most of the important stuff was elsewhere, so I wasn't too worried. But still, it's a big relief.

And I can finally process and upload photos again! Gawd, how I missed that. And wow, what a difference a new PC makes! Yeah, I know I have tons of things I need to write about, but I was already very behind on my photo processing before the computer went down...
