So I tried a toe up sock.
I started out planning to make them for me, and I wanted a pattern that would work with the self striping yarn.
I used Judy's magic cast on and as you can see it resulted in a very good toe.
It is easy once you get a hang of how to do it. I dropped down onto a 2.25 mm dpn for the heel and I didn't adjust for it being shorter as a result. I did a short row heel. The first one was a bit disappointing and I had to sew it a little bit. The second one was easier and it looks quite good.
My mum doesn't have very good scales and they are only accurate to like 25gms. This was the remainder of the skein used for
winterstorrm's scarf. I decided to do 10 rows of leg to match the foot but I realized when I got back that I had used more than half. I had another skein of the same yarn but in a different colour range, one of the shades was the same so I used a bit of that at the end of the second sock.
It is only the last row I think that you can tell is starting to get to a different shade. But you do have to look very closely.
New toys!!
It's a blend of alpaca, cashmere and silk so it's really soft and smooth IDK if I will use it for socks or a scarf/ wrap thing.
It's silk and it just appealed, the shop assistant laughed at me for the way i was carrying it about and petting it. It's very fine so maybe lace?
I just love the colour and it has 9% cashmere
Ribbon yarn, I think keep it simple stitch wise and a nice quick scarf.
