hello noobie

Right. This may be my last update from glorious Bow.

Remember when I said I hoped my doctory life would be like Scrubs?

It seems my brand new first team, the Hepatobiliary team, has three house officers or HOs (of which I'm one), and two registrars, and three consultants. The consultant that I'll be working for has one registrar. There are no senior HOs, i.e., no doctor of skills intermediate between a HO and a reg - even though there are SHO-levelish men floating around, who are named "clinical fellows" and if I spot one, I can ask for their help when in distress. But anyway. It seems that daily ward rounds will be carried out between me and the reg.

And the Reg is a short Canadian Italian man, with a Canadian accent. He has a ponytail, and a weird little precise square of facial hair on his chin, and a cartillage piercing in his ear. And he swears a lot but not in front of patients. And he is dissatisfied with NHS redtapery.

So, like, his first words to me were, "Just out of medschool, huh? Prepare to have all your illusions of medicine shattered."

Will this registrar be my Dr Cox, is what I want to know.
