So Sarah had it right when she told me that, once she got off the plane and into the house, she was happy to throw her laundry into the machine and sit on the couch for days, relishing the feeling of her newly discovered muscles disintegrating.

I got back from Europe a little over a week ago and have been mostly happy to do the same, although I learned something about memory and new experiences this summer--how the latter can tend to muddy up the former. Which essentially means that while I was psyched about spending entire days just literally sitting around the house less than a week ago, when I couldn't be more excited about feeling settled and staying in one place, I'm starting to get over it. Just in time, I suppose, to kick it back at New College. Being away has not only made me appreciate the beauty of having the option to stay or go and choosing to stay, but it also reminded me (more than a few times) how lucky I am to have such amazing people around all the time. So thanks for that, friends. I'd bore you with pictures but I'm afraid I'm too lazy.

Here's to the beginning of what promises to be a really good and fulfilling year, and to whatever changes it brings.
