I haven't written anything in months.
Today , I sat down and played piano for half an hour straight with no music, just from my mind, then felt energized beyond belief and wrote the intro and first theme of my very first song for Matt.
I've been kicking around the idea of doing a group of poems called "portraits" describing the people i know/ come in contact with/ are randomly fascinated by. Today I finally wrote the first one, from an image that has been stuck in my head for a long time.
It probably sucks. I don't really care. This is for me, but I thought the girl it is about (and possibly her girl) would enjoy it.
For Lauren, my daughter (just try to tell me you haven't done any good in the world)
She is
a candle in the mirror
small and shivering
afraid of every breeze
yet she lights the entire room
and all are drawn to her
and see themselves
cast in softer tones
poetry,
piano,
music,
lauren
