Monday night, my sister called me as we were sitting in the living room watching the lightning playing outside. I'd been uneasy all day long and hadn't known why. Perhaps it was the unnatural warmth in the air and the feeling of apocalypse by global warming it always brings.
She said that there was a tornado that was going to hit Mount Pleasant in 14 minutes directly. I asked Kat to flip on the television. Sure enough- tornado warning, 3 potential funnels, about 13 miles away. In January.
It started hailing so hard that car alarms were going off just as we were about to head to the clubhouse because it's the only place we can get into that's on the first floor, so we shut ourselves in one of the furthest inside bathrooms with the cats. Nothing happened, but I was shaking like a leaf.
Yesterday, Central was closed all day. I don't know if the power was out or there was damage or what... but my first day of classes will be tomorrow.
I'm still a little spooked.
