We be famous! For a good solid 15 minutes at least

It's a freaking gorgeous day outside, so I'm not gonna stick at my compy for long. Still, I've been meaning to write a journal entry for a while, and I finally have the time/creative energy to do it.

Whenever I talk about the company I work for, it always starts the same way. "Yeah, we're a small publicly traded company. I'm sure you've never heard of us though... yet." Being in the media industry, it's always been somewhat of an embarrassment that my company was only known to those who run in very selective investment circles. We distribute some real quality music (Death Cab for Cutie, The Foundations (Build Me Up Buttercup), Yellow Card), as well as some horrible... horrible stuff, yet no one recognizes the DMGI logo when they see it.

Well, hopefully that'll change soon. We had our one-year birthday just a few weeks ago, and to celebrate we decided to make some news. On the front page of the Wall Street Journal, there was an article about how we signed a deal with YouTube to get some of our video content streamed. This spawned a light media storm, and we got a nice spot on Channel 10 News talking about what DMGI does (Unfortunately, the broadcast needs to be watched in Internet Explorer using the most up-to-date windows media player).

It's neat to finally be getting some attention. I use to feel that the company served a fairly pointless function, being the absolute definition of "middle man." Now that folks are excited about what we're doing, I'm beginning to feel a better sense of purpose about what I do. Sure, it's not like I'm helping to cure cancer or anything, but at least we'll be providing some entertainment to the masses.

Oh, and a shout out to my Uncle Mike and John. No sense in hiding, I know you're there :)
