SO I want what Tris has....a dog. BUT I'm totally not ready. Like, I think it would be great to have a dog, something to have to take on walks and care for, but I'm still enjoying the no strings thing minus Russ cause he's a big string I don't mind ( Read more... )

I don't want to claim this is the case for everyone, but often times someone with allergies becomes immune to their pet. I've been allergic to every pet i've owned, including both cats and rabbits that we currently own.

I am miserable for a couple days, possibly a week, and then i'm fine. If i'm around someone elses cat, dog, etc my allergies go crazy. I just assume that i've developed an immunity to their specific dander. Air purifiers also help, but I just got them for the first time a few months ago, and was fine before that. The air quality has just seemed to imporve overall since I got 3 air purifiers this year.

I never used to be a cat person because I knew so many people who had "snobby" cats like you mentioned and assumed it was typical. Both our cats are insanely affectionate and outgoing. Never a scratch or bite from either. I want nothing to do with having a snobby cat.

Check out Petfinder.org. You may find one for adoption near you. Not sure what part of Canada you're in but it's worth a look. Heres a hairless cutie on the site, although it's all the way in California.

Yea I'd love to adopt first and formost, but its such a perticular breed.

Also a lot of the reason I don't want a haired cat is frankly I don't want to have to clean up the hair.
