Flick hadn't been able to get out of the Academy on the exact day of Isabelle's birthday but one day late wasn't too bad, was it? Flick didn't think so. He hadn't even gone to New York to grab Isabelle, just texted her an address, a voucher for a portal and was now waiting for her. His bags had already been unpacked and now was standing on the patio, drinking something cool.

The cottage was, in Flick's mind, one of his best choices. They'd been able to travel to a variety of places but never something like this. With the cool weather, it just made everything that much quieter. It felt like they'd be the only two people in the world.

Flick sighed and leaned against the railing, keeping his eyes on the area in front of the treehouse where he knew the portal would be opening at some point. Hopefully it didn't malfunction and dump Isabelle somewhere he wasn't. That'd be a pretty shit birthday for her.

[NFB and for Isabelle!]
