Silent Treatment

On Saturday, I came here to this journal page thing to post an invitation to my podcast's final episode. (It went very well, by the way.) When I got here, I saw something rather disturbing: The previous entry... was also a podcast invite. Two full weeks had gone by without any kind of entry. Granted, there hasn't been a whole lot going on, but I remember a time when that wouldn't have stopped me from rambling on and on about it anyway.

One such item: My work schedule. I can't recall off-hand whether or not I mentioned this back in September or October when it happened, but for several months I have been working a strange flex-schedule shift. It involved working longer days three days a week and getting a short Friday. The person who previously worked long days / short Friday had retired, and someone was required to stay until the official 5pm close of business. I was one of the two people who did that. (The other person got a short Tuesday for her two long days.) It was to be temporary, until we filled the position vacated by the retiree.

We're not filling the position. There are factors involving federal politics.

When this fact was made known to us, I was then offered the opportunity to work four long days and an ultra-short Friday (the retiree's old schedule) on a not-so-temporary basis. I politely declined. Because of lazy-t's schedule fluctuations, I need a better availability for the next inevitable movie day change. The other Long Day person has taken the Four Long / Short Friday gig, and I'm back to my normal schedule.

Friday felt very long... but at least Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday didn't screw with my mindset like it had been. (Something about getting home an hour later than I had been used to for ten years just threw everything off. Not sure how to explain that.)

Speaking of ten years, I have officially been a State Employee for a decade! Insert the obligatory whine-griping about being old.

Went to see Snarky in a play last weekend. To put it mildly, I did not enjoy it. I've ranted about it at length in other venues, so I'll spare you the gory details, Dear Journal. In happier news, dinner with the family that night was lovely. (Brother, Sister, Snarky, and Monchichi.)

A Round of Words in 80 Days began its second round last week. I stated in the Nano-locked wrap-up entry that I would be sitting this round out. That is still my intent. However, I heartily endorse the ROW80 concept and will cheer on anyone who takes up the challenge.

I'm going to end the entry here. Being back to the regular schedule, I only have 30 minutes for lunch. That time gets eaten up very quickly. My hope is that it won't be another two weeks of silence from me. Just another goal to add to my ever-growing list.

Talk to you soon!
