More Projects? NO!

Those danged Public Statements of Intent™ kill me every time! Yesterday I talked about how I wanted to get some podcast editing done, but when I got home, all I wanted to do was eat some supper. When I eat, I watch TV. This time the selection was a movie called 40 Days and 40 Nights with Josh Hartnett. Fun movie, but nothing special. Of course, once I was watching more than a sitcom episode's worth of TV, I didn't want to get up to do anything else. So no editing.

I watched a new show called Million Dollar Drop. It's one of those game shows that creates suspense using dramatic music and taking forever to reveal the answers. On top of that, the contestants on last night's show were so idiotic that I wondered if they were even contestants, and instead the show's creators were opting for a fully-scripted format with actors in the roles of the players. Particularly the woman -- her expressions seemed too rehearsed. It was like she's from an improv company and was told to talk out the entire thing. She tried to justify every single answer she gave, even when she was second-guessing herself.

The sad part is that I think I want to watch again tonight. (It's a week-long premiere event.)

Even my after-TV plans didn't work out quite as expected. Even though I had seen and absorbed the announcement that Girls Night In Radio was doing a live show on a different night than normal, my brain did NOT catch the part where they were doing it an hour earlier as well. (Their old time instead of their new regular time.) So I popped into the show room just as Rachel and Maggie were saying good night. What timing! I suck.

Rachel opened an aftershow room, and we chatted for about an hour before parting ways.

As is so often the case lately, my brain is trying very hard to over-commit me to creative things I will never follow through on. A large part of this is knowing that flick-a-brac is ending in April. What will I do with the massive amounts of free time that will result? (Yeah, right, sez I. Here's a thought -- start editing Spoiler Alert!)

So far my brain has decided I need to write much more regularly (ROW80 would help with that) and podcast them; put those books on Lulu, a self-publishing print on demand company; revamp flickguy at the MOVIES as a five-minute podcast; and other blogging-related thought processes.

I'm trying to tell my brain that until I finish my backlog of podcast editing and get my Classics podcast off the ground (no, I still haven't fully given up on that one yet), none of these other things can come to pass. And besides, I argue, I'll never follow through for more than a month on any given one of these projects. (Except maybe ROW80 -- the writing part. And even that one is still iffy.)

The priority needs to remain finishing up flick-a-brac edits and show notes, and doing Spoiler Alert edits and show notes. Which reminds me: I still need to order that web design book so I can learn CSS/PHP/WhateverElseINeed. Guess it'll have to be January. I'm out of available money for December.

Tonight's "plan" involves TV. Million Dollar Drop (as stated earlier), and it looks like there's a new Undercovers on tonight. Yay! (I love that show.) I may edit, but I'll go on record right now as doubting it.

Of course, as usual I will keep you posted, Dear Journal.
