Baby steps?
Things have gone better than I had expected them to go as far as editing has gone. Having finished the primary edit on Wednesday meant there was minimal stuff to do on it last night -- just bumpers and exporting, really. While the evening went a little longer than I was originally expecting it to, I managed to get the bumpers inserted by a reasonable bed time. I listened through the episode first thing this morning and released it around lunch time. Talkshoe has a few issues updating their RSS feed sometimes, and it took several attempted edits to finally get the feed to update with the new episode. But it's all up and available now. Tomorrow's mission, prior to the murder mystery, is to do the show notes in the list above, plus the ones for the Red Brick Road episode munchkin and I recorded tonight.
Lazy-t and I couldn't find a showing of Scott Pilgrim within our time frame, so I somehow talked him into finally seeing Toy Story 3. This means there is actually a Spoiler Alert episode for Pixar's latest masterpiece! That made me happy, and the philosophical discussion we ended up having about children, toys, and growing up was interesting, too. At least, to me. I'm hoping that my post-production magic will increase the volume of the recording, though, because we had to use a recording device with a microphone that didn't want to pick us both up. Sigh. About five minutes after he left, I found the recorder we normally use. Ain't that always the way?
Tomorrow is the final performance of the movie set show for this run, and it looks like we're set to go out with a bang. Director sent us an email with the dual purpose of reminding us of the show and to let us know it's sold out. Yowza! That's exciting. Holly sent everyone a message on Facebook asking if we were up for hitting a nearby night spot afterward for drinks or appetizers or something. I'm game, if I have a ride home afterward. She said that if my normal ride doesn't join us, she'll take me home. (My normal ride is the only one of the cast not on Facebook.) It's a bittersweet thing, really. As much as I complained about not having enough time between runs, as much as I hemmed and hawed about the two-month extension the show was given... as bad as my moods have been upon arrival at our venue, I think I'm going to miss this gang. I'm going to miss not having the show to complain about. I know I've said it over and over again, I do enjoy the show. I like entertaining people, even when I know I'd never be able to make a living out of it. I like making people laugh, and the thing the last couple of runs have taught me is that I can make people laugh. Hit and miss sometimes, but there you go.
I'm going to miss Holly and Matt 2 the most, I think. I like Nora, Milo an Matt 1 a lot, but Holly especially has made a point to include me. She doesn't let me sit in a corner and be antisocial. She comes over and threatens me with wet willies until I smile completely against my will. I'd never say this to her, but I adore the heck out of her. (She already knows she's awesome -- why bother to give her a swelled head about it?) And Matt 2... well, he's another one who makes a point to be nice to me. Prolly to everyone, but I've certainly noticed it. I guess for all of my Grumpy McGrumperson attitude, sometimes I like a little bit of social attention. That's not wrong, is it?
Tomorrow will be a bit of an emotional day, I think. Having to say good-bye to the show, and to at least one of the cast members for good. Milo is moving to New York officially as of tomorrow night. Nora's husband is a pastor, and they have officially moved about three hours away as well, though she keeps up with the property here as well. I'm not sure if she'll be available to do the show next time it rolls around.
Walker and I went to lunch today, which was why there wasn't an entry at lunch. Munchkin is currently editing the next episode of Red Brick Road, so that gives me a little bit of time to jot down a journal entry. That way it won't be such a long entry when I get back to work on Tuesday. (Happy Labor Day, America!)
Very much wanting the "long" weekend that will surely fly right by.
Well, Dear Journal, that's all for now. I'll talk to you later.
