[Someone's barely been home the past few days and been rather quiet when she has been. Katie's not at home now - she's curled in the top branches of a tree in the northern part of the forest, not too far from the village edge, journal propped open on her lap while she draws. She's aware the whole village can see, but Katie's never been shy about ( Read more... )

[At first he wasn't sure where all those pictures were coming from, but between the image of the IU crew and Katie's dragon emblem, he recognizes it at last. He's been wondering where she was.]

...A dragon?

A red dragon. [For this makes all the difference.] His name is Marabostro.

...Just as long as it's not a blue dragon. [Surprisingly, colour really is that important.] So what did this Marabostro do to deserve a slaying?

He kidnapped all the maidens from a farming village and burned their crops. [And after a contemplative pause:] And he didn't put his rubbish in the bin.

A most heinous crime. [No, really. Messy dragons must be put to death!] Nothing Lord Sigmund couldn't handle.

Oh, it was an epic battle. But he couldn't have done it without you.

[Even if it's only coming from a child, that just gives him a fuzzy feeling. Oh, Katie. You're just precious.]

It's good that I was there to help him, then. So we saved everyone?

Every single person. Even the neighbour's dog.

The villagers were very happy. They threw a party in your honour.

[Even the dog? That is an accomplishment. Rico would be proud.]

Well, they were disappointed when you left early. Especially the mayor. I think he was trying to marry his daughter to one of you.

[hjkfdshfs AUGH, NO. Even in a fictional story, that is horrifying.]

W-we have no need for distractions like that!

That's what Sigmund told him. You had other villains to go and defeat, after all.

[Oh, thank Veros.]

Indeed. Lord Sigmund is very professional.

[Giggling.] They were quite unhappy to see you go, but they promised to make up songs in your honour instead.

Why not a blue one? [Scuse the vaguely left field comment, she's curious.]

[That's quite alright, because he's always happy to gush about his favourite dragon.] The only blue dragon I know is the great Claridian of Burguss, the revered and holy guardian of my home country. To even consider killing a creature like that is the worst crime.

[Oh hey, sounds like her kind of dragon.] So you have good and evil dragons at home, then?
