Lynette Scavo knocked on Gabrielle Solis’s door. She was worried about Gabby. Gabrielle had just suffered a devastating miscarriage and even though she had been putting up a strong front, Lynette knew her friend so well, she could Gabrielle was really upset inside. When Gabby opened the door Lynette saw her tear streaked face.
“Hey,” Gabby said and smiled weakly at the sight of her closest friend.
“Hey honey,” Lynette said and placed her hand on Gabrielle’s shoulder. “Were you crying?”
Gabby nodded and let Lynette inside her house.
The two women sat beside each other on the living room couch.
“Thank you for coming.” Gabby said as fresh tears started pouring out of her eyes.
Lynette started rubbing Gabrielle’s back. “Is there anything I can do for you?”
Gabrielle shook her head, “No, I’m just happy to have some company.”
“Okay,” Lynette said. She didn’t say anything else because she knew all Gabby needed was her best friend. As Gabby’s sobbing got worse, Lynette wrapped her arms around Gabrielle and let Gabrielle sink into her embrace.
“Oh, Lynnie!” Gabby sobbed.
“Shh...Let it out.” Lynette whispered. She started rubbing Gabby’s arms.
Lynette had no idea what kind of pain Gabby was suffering. She had never lost a child before. But she could tell Gabby was in terrible pain.
“Is this the first you’ve been able to grieve?” Lynette asked when she heard Gabby’s sobs calm down. Gabby slowly nodded as Lynette began running her hand through Gabby’s dark, silky hair.
“Thank you, Lynette.” Gabby said, sounding tired.
“Do you want me to stay here tonight?” Lynette offered.
“Oh, no. It’s okay.” Gabby answered. “You have your own family and...”
Lynette cut her off, “No, I’ll stay. I don’t mind.”
Gabrielle gave Lynette an appreciative smile, “Thanks, Lynnie.”
“No problem,” Lynette whispered, also smiling.
“I’ve never felt so depressed in my life.” Gabrielle remarked.
“It’ll get better with time.” Lynette said.
“I don’t think it will.” Gabby admitted.
“Gabby, I can’t imagine the pain you’re feeling. I don’t what I would do if one of my kids died. But, I do know that you’re strong and you and Carlos will get through this.” Lynette said, sincerely from her heart.
Gabby weakly smiled, “Are you really going to stay here tonight?”
“Of course. You know I wouldn’t lie to you.” Lynette answered.
“Can we watch a movie?” Gabby asked.
Lynette smiled at Gabrielle, “Sure, we can have a fun girls’ night.”
Gabby’s smile got bigger. That was exactly what she needed.
“You can pick the movie.” Lynette told Gabby as the two women started planning their night together.
