So, pole dancing!

Bruising aside (my shins have gone an interesting colour, too), the pole dancing class was quite interesting. About a dozen people, four of us there to try it out and the rest who'd been going for about a year. Lots of tattoos and piercings, one bloke who was terribly intense about it all and spent the whole session hogging a pole and much of it ( Read more... )

Hope the bruises get better soon. Clearly pole dancing is far more strenuous than I imagined - I always thought avoiding the giggles would be the hardest part, but clearly that ain't the difficult bit. I have new respect for the professionals!

That, I'd classify as Olympic level gymnastics: seriously impressive.  Wish Mike happy birthday btw. :)

At that level it's clearly just 'another piece of gymnastic apparatus that doesn't happen to be in the gymnastics competition', isn't it? Which makes a lot of sense when you learn about how gymnastics as competitive sport started ("well, all the gyms had a pommel horse to practice getting on and off horses on, and being lads, they used to muck about on it...")
