So how old is the human equivalent of a horse who is 30 actual years old?

As with dogs, it's tricky to say. Some people use 3x the age, so he's be 90ish.

Horses are considered to be 'veteran' at 16, but life expectancies have gone up greatly in the last hundred or so years, due to better health care and living conditions and reduced working. There used to be 'veteran' classes at some shows, so that your elderly horse wasn't judged by the same standards as a healthy youngster, but these days they've had to split them into three (16-20, 20-25, 25+). Even by those categories, GB's in better condition than most horses a decade younger (especially when his leg's not bothering him).
