Good start. I think George thinking constantly about how he's about to die is really in character.

I got the idea from a podcast with Shonda I listened to! She said something to the effect that, she made George have the drunk amnesia because the kind of person George is, would just not survive if he woke up knowing what he did. I really liked the idea, and I'll give credit where it's due.
