"What you waitin' for?"
A young lad with tousled hair, bright blue eyes and a broad grin that could charm the armour off a Dalek was darting through a building complex, pausing just long enough to make sure his best friend hadn't chickened out on him yet.
It was stupid really, two teenagers still playing games that were only expected of children, prancing through buildings and annoying the residents as they (well, mainly he) whooped loudly, hammering on doors and running round corners. But he was never known for his maturity. Why grow up if you're having fun?
They were opposites, the two of them. He was always full of energy, always joking and always getting them into trouble. The other was anything but. Reserved, quiet, constantly questioning their safety, and far too easily persuaded. But that's why they clung to each other, feeding off one another's personality, working off each other like any infamous duo would. Scheming and plotting and creating havoc.
They were just kids.

"What's the worst that could happen?"
That foolish grin was still on his lips, his features matured but not his personality. He was so close to getting his companion to sign up. Just one little signature could have them skipping off to enemy lines to fight the big fight.
Neither of them had considered death as an option. War was all just a big game to them. Battle would be no different from the hundreds of times they'd spent shooting wildlife with stupidly powerful guns. It was just boys and their toys.
The two of them where invincible when together. Friends forever. As long as they both shall live.
