I'm home gearing up for LOST on abc at 10pm. I swear I'm addicted to that show. I have it DVR'd too, just in case I miss something important and need to rewatch a scene. I think it may be one of the best shows on television. I just hope the writers know where they are going with it.
Today was a pretty good day. I was busy, but I got a lot done and now I'm enjoying the quiet. I have class tomorrow night, too. I'm not really looking forward to that, but I am looking forward to Friday night because thats when I get to see my nephew in ANNIE at New Bedford High. I'm also going to see it on Sunday and I hope its as good as last year's The Wizard of Oz. The NB High Drama club really does a good job every year. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
I'm also looking forward to getting my new phone on Sunday. I think I'm going to go with the EnV, which is a text-messaging phone with internet capabilities. I still haven't made my final decision, but I don't think I am really impressed with any of the other phones.
I'm almost done correcting research papers. They were due yesterday. I correct mostly all of them except the ones that were turned in late, which really ticks me off. Some people did really well on it; others failed it. I'm not afraid to give an F to someone who clearly didn't follow my directions. I gave so many examples and illustrations of exactly how I wanted it done. We've been covering it for 3 weeks in class, with poster-size examples, packets of handouts, and overhead projector notes. We even went to the media center in the school and online. We did group work, homework, and classwork all geared toward helping them to understand the right way to do the paper. Therefore I have no sympathy for kids who simply didn't pay attention and wound up doing the paper all wrong. Some of them came to me to complain about their grades. I told them I would give them until tomorrow morning to make some corrections and hand in a new draft for 5 extra points. I think thats more than fair. For some, its the difference between an F and a D, or a B+ and an A-. Its their choice. What I really felt like telling them was to screw off because they should have just listened to me and done it right the first time. I'm getting all worked up again about it so I'm going to move on.
I'm going to Orlando in just about 2 1/2 more weeks. I really can't wait. I think besides this weekend it is probably the thing I am looking forward to the most! We will see.
Oprah's new book club pick is THE ROAD by Cormac McCarthy. I've been thinking of reading it for quite some time now. I kept putting it off, though. I guess there's no better time than the present to start!
I'll keep you posted.
