New Year

Jan 01, 2007 21:18

This is my first official post of 2007 - and it comes the night before I have to go back to work from a week-long vacation. I could really use another day or two off. Last week flew by faster than any vacation I have ever had. I think that having the holidays on the Mondays makes the vacation seem shorter for some reason. And I definitely think that going back to work on January 2nd is too soon, especially after new years. But whatever - no use in complaining. I'll having MLK Jr day off in 2 weeks so I can look forward to that long weekend. I'm now anxious to finish up the unit on The Canterbury Tales, move on to new poetry, and eventually start Romeo and Juliet - although I probably won't get to that until mid-to-end of February.

Last night's party at the Siladis was fun. It was good to see everyone again especially since I hadn't seen some people like Banks or Annie in almost a year! I drove my car down with Rudie and Banks and then Scott, Jess, Darek, and Jason went up in Jason's car. Kevin went alone in his truck and Michelle and Annie went together. Lindsay drove up alone and met up with us later and Frank and his gf came pretty late too. Everyone else was already there when we got there, but the drive down was a pain - maybe I'm just getting old, but driving 3 hours to go to a party just isn't my idea of convenient anymore. I think this will be the last Siladi's New Years party. Its bittersweet.

My uncle Dennis came over tonight and it was good to see him. He said once he gets settled in his new house in Maine he will have me up for a few days but that probably wont be until at least summer 2008. He still lives in Rochester but is in the process of getting things set up in Maine. His new house is literally out in the middle of nowhere and is apparently within viewing distance of Canada. There are a total of 108 people or something that live in the town, and he said that most  people pass the time by fishing or hiking or hunting. I'm probably not cut out for that kind of life but it will be interesting to see what its like one day.

Well, I hope everyone had a happy new year's eve and day. I'm goin' to go get ready for tomorrow.
Here's to a good week back.
I'll keep you posted.
