since this is the first internet cafe i've found since Rome, i felt like making a "i am alone in Venice and it is beautiful and i can do whatever i want and i am having a great time, and no i am not dead." actually, i'm canal-strolling bridge-walking gondola-riding (once), gelato-eating, museum-going til i drop. and at the Punta della Dogana, they are filming Casanova, and today i watched Jeremy Irons go out into the grande canal in a gondola in full costume while the other extras fell into the water, and one man paddled his gondola with a violin. and apparently, the other girls in my hostel have spotted heath ledger. really, now all i have left to do is buy yet another mask, some earrings, visit the glass-blowing island, go up into the tower in San Marco, and NOT do any more museums, because, really, i could go see the most important collection of oriental art in Europe, but after having seen "Turner in Venice," the largest Salvador Dali exhibit i've ever seen (including having watched all the films), the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim, and several Titians and Tintorettos here and there in churches, i think i can now mellow out without feeling guilty. back to prague sunday. now, it's time to get an early dinner in Venice. ciao, bella!
