july

time to make some july goals - the month's only nearly half-over, there's still time, there's still time  (seriously, D'OH, this summer is getting away from me - fast!)

July = start fresh. These are not "hold overs" from June (this is a more positive way to frame things, don't you think?)

Books:
Index to the Story of my Days (Edward Gordon Craig)
Swann's Way (Proust)
A History of Irish Theatre, 1600-2001 (Morash)

and perhaps also The Waves (Woolf). Maybe.

Paint:
finish portrait of Jenny Gordy
landscape from St. Thomas for David and Jenn

Other/Making:
Curtains for kitchen
curtains for french doors
choker(s?) for Gorgeous Choker Swap on craftster

...I need to sew something. Hmmm... ok, I only have about two weeks, so let's be realistic: either I try to get one garment started/worked on, OR I  get started on C's yuletide gift, which is more handwork, and probably easier to accomplish in time, OR I get started on the covers for the couch cusion OR I make the new cover for the Poang chair (I want to use this heavy-weight - think denim - silk/cotton blend that I have in a kind of deep-greeny-pumpkin colour).

Does that seem like enough? Too little? Oh! okay, one more:
make covers for hat hooks (simple sewing project, I should be able to knock this out in an afternoon, really)

Things to remember for August:
oh crap, I just forgot what I was going to say. how the heck did that happen? crap...something about sewing. oh man. I must be getting old or something.

oh well. garment plans for this summer:
high waisted skirt
millinery/elaborate hair pin
a brooch that looks like a prize ribbon (that waspy story in teen vogue totally embodies everthing I love)

oh! got it! (yes, I knew if I waited long enough I would)
start cutting quilting pieces from cottons. yes. find a pattern that I like, too - gotta do that first.

okay, more later. whew.
