workaholic vacation

woof. so tired. Here's why I didn't want to get sick on spring break: because it means I have to cut back on the giant list of satisfying, soul-feeding fun times I wanted to have. I just pushed myself (really PUSHED) through some 3 or 4 hours of painting. My whole body aches, my bloodshot eye is about twice as bad (ewww, not looking so hot right now), I'm losing my voice. In other words, I've managed to majorly aggravate my cold on the first day I was starting to feel better.

Here's what I HAD planned/hoped to do over break:

finish current section of thesis (just a couple pages to outline/draft/write)
outline, draft, and type next section (probably just another 12 pgs) (don't think this one will happen. or be complete.)
read 5-6 plays by Ionesco and Pirandello (together, not each) - for thesis (maybe I'll get to one or two...)

read Angela's Ashes (I'm on page...ermm...16. No sweat, I can make it, yeah?)

finish quilting my bro's quilt, bind edges, get ready to send

Sew one - two new items. (already working on a dress made from mostly recycled materials. It will be ridiculous and ruffly and possibly I will have to swap/trade it, as I have no idea where I could wear it. We'll see how it turns out - so far, it looks good.) I pre-washed the purple silk charmeuse I ordered and I'm just trying to envision the *perfect* top to make out of it. I have in mind something A-line/tent silhouette, with pleats and a bow tying over the bust. Oh so girly, but also work-appropriate and lightweight (hey folks, it's hot here).

Do one painting. SOmething I'd been hoping to do, but had been feeling all mopey until last week because I wasn't particularly inspired by any one thing. Then I saw an old flickr favorite, got permission to use it (WOO) and a few days later got the bad news about Mom. Connected the two within another day or two. I've already started on this one. This is therapy, and Therapy and THesis top the  to-do list.

keep exercising 4-5 days/ week (not gonna happen: bike needs servicing and, hell, I"m sick. Exercise = getting sick again at this point)

clean out closet (yes, AGAIN!) and add more stuff to my swap pool (must eliminate extra stuff, must eliminate extra stuff!)

Ross trip with Clareann and Karen (seems contradictory, no? Just don't ask, there is no logic behind it...)

clean house, particularly odd nooks n crannies like working to empty pantry/freezer, and using/purging/gifting/donating craft supplies

finish Clareann's tee (it just needs fraycheck)

annnnnd....I think that's it. Oh yeah! And go to wine country and to the museum and gallery. I think THAT"S it. Okay, okay, I admit, I had also hoped to bead a tee for myself. But just a little appliqued beadwork, nothing too fancy, to use up old buttons and details that I cut off shirts/sweaters before recydling them into rags or fabric for the recycled-fabrics-dress.

no sweat, huh? har. har. har... well, we'll see. I was going to make the craft store run tonight, but now I think I need to finish grading my last six tests for the day and hit the sack early. I'm exhausted. On the upside, this study in white is off to a nice start.

dang. my headache is back. And this was the first day without it ... rats rats rats.
