Draco looked up, a bit startled, when a charmed note appeared in midair right in front of him. He too it and opened it, recognizing the slanting cursive as Fleur's handwriting, thought it looked messier than her last letter, rushed.
Draco,
Open the door to your common room, s'il vous plaît, I haven't got the password.
-Fleur
Draco set the note aside and headed for the door, earning vaguely panicky looks from Pansy and Daphne.
"Where are you going?" Pansy asked.
"Fleur is here," he informed her, and opened the door. Fleur stepped inside, then turned back to Bill. "Tu dois retourner à Gryffindor," she told him quietly. "Tes frère ont besoin de toi." Bill nodded at her and kissed her on the cheek. Fleur smiled slightly and gave his hand a quick squeeze, then turned back to Draco.
"I've been up in Gryffindor," she told him, as she followed him in and perched on the end of the couch. "The news isn't good, I'm afraid."
"What's happening?" Daphne asked.
Fleur took a deep breath and told them the story as gently as she could, not that that made it any better, really. All three Slytherins looked a bit pale when she finished.
"Then what's being done?" Pansy asked.
Fleur pressed her lips together for a moment before answering, "I think... I may know where Hermione and Ginny are being held. But I haven't the faintest idea what else we'll find there, or how heavily warded it may be."
"But they're alive?"
Fleur nodded slightly. "For the moment."
A collective little sigh of relief seemed to pass through the group, and Fleur moved from her spot to sit down beside Draco and lay a hand gently on his shoulder. "It's going to be alright," she murmured softly. Draco laughed, though it sounded more like a sob. "You don't know that," he said to her.
"I believe it," she answered quietly, and focused on sending a wave of calm over Draco. It was difficult for her to do it so often (she was only a quarter Veela, after all), but she knew he needed it. She felt of the tension ease out of his shoulders, and he looked up at her and managed a slight smile. "Thanks."
"De rien, Draco. De rien.
