Duality
Hi all! It's been a while since my last posting since I have been very busy with schoolwork. So here's a big chunk of hypotheses. Hope it's not too boring ;)
DUALITY - YTILAUD
As we all have noticed by now, Clamp uses duality and symmetry inside many of their stories particularly in Tsubasa and xxxHolic. So why not make one manga the dual of another and publish them in parallel? I think that Tsubasa and xxxHolic are the story of one and only one character (Shaoran being Kimihiro at the same time) but seen from a different perspective. But what exactly could be that mystifying link between Shaoran and Kimihiro?
UNCONSCIOUS DIMENSION OF SHAORAN
I think Kimihiro is actually the subconscious of Shaoran. Since he is the subconsicous of Shaoran, he is not conscious of who he is with respect to Shaoran. So Shaoran is (and lives in) the conscious dimension while Kimihiro is (and lives in) the unconsious dimension. On the other hand, Shaoran knows what links himself to Kimihiro.
OBVIOUS SIMILARITIES
What similarities Shaoran and Kimihiro share together? First, they are both orphans. Second, they have the same birthday. Here’s my explanation about that. When Sakura gave a birthday to cloned Shaoran, the real Shaoran’s heart was really controlling the clone. Therefore, it is as she gave it to real Shaoran. Since Shaoran and Kimihiro are two of a kind, and since Watanuki does not remember much from his childhood, he does not have any birthday. Therefore, April 1st became his birthday as well.
REAL WORLD vs DREAM WORLD
While Shaoran lives in a real world involving physical injuries, Kimihiro lives in a dream world and must deal psychological problems. Shaoran loves Sakura, a name meaning cherry blossom. She is gifted with good luck. On the other side, Kimihiro’s sweet heart is Himawari, a name meaning dandelion flower. In opposition to Sakura, she inadvertently brings bad luck with her. Both heroes have a rival in their love story: cloned Shaoran and Shizuka Dômeki.
MIND and BODY
When Sakura splits in two, Chii and Freya take the body and soul to another dimension. Kimihiro takes then care of Sakura’s mind while Shaoran protects Sakura’s body. We also remember that Sakura is searching her feathers or her soul memories while Fei Wang is after her body memories.
BLACK and WHITE
Clow and Yuko, which are respectively from the real and unmaterial worlds, have created white and black Mokona to ultimately help Shaoran and Kimihiro. White Mokona’s earring enhances magic, black Mokona’s earring seals it.
HOW OLD?
In the xxxHolic anime opening, we learn that Kimihiro is 19 years old. I have the impression that Shaoran is a bit younger, around 17. If they really are the same person, they should logically have the same age … but since time flows differently in different dimensions, there is no problem if they don’t have the same age!
MORE SIMILARITIES
As if all this is not enough, they are both blind of one eye at some point in the story, they love in silence and have an honest gaze. Yuko also purify an egg and splits it in two for the sake of two futures. Furthermore, the authors once said that Tsubasa and xxxHolic's climaxes would happen at the same time, meaning they'll end together as if they were only one story.
UNSOLVED MYSTERIES
I still wonder how come Fujitaka is Shaoran’s adoptive father and Clow Reed is Sakura’s father while in CCS, the roles are reversed! I hope this mystery will be solved.
PREDICTIONS
I am eager to find out how the clone enters the world of dreams. Must he die first? Does he have to separate himself from his soul and/or heart? Does he have any? Or will Shaoran in the tube be only an illusion?
I think Kimihiro (the unconscious part of Shaoran) will witness Sakura’s meeting with clone inside the tube. Sakura will be thinking she is facing her true love while her true love will be watching this moving scene.
