* * This is going to be long.

* * I went to the SWE Career Fair in Kansas City this weekend and had a great time. But, MURPHY'S LAW decided to haunt me on the way out.

* * I got a call from a Boeing recruiter on Thursday morning telling me that I should be in Kansas City by 4PM to go through pre-screening so that I could be interviewed for a position (by a manager who was really interested in interviewing me!!) sometime that weekend. I started going a little insane because I had not planned to be in KC until 7PM or so. She later called back to say that pre-screening had been extended until 8PM. That was fine.

* * So, I called Mom and asked if she could pick up my suit jackets from the tailor early so that I could leave and be in KC by 7PM or so. I arrived home around 3:20PM and Mom hadn't had a chance to go. So, I ran out and went to get them... and I was so flustered that I left the KEYS in the IGNITION and LOCKED myself OUT of the CAR. I called mom (from the Tailor's phone because I also locked mine and Karan's phones in the car) and asked her to come unlock the car for me. She showed up around 4:04PM and was afraid that she didn't have a key to unlock the car! But luckily the valet key worked. Then I SPED at 80mph the whole way. I needed to fill up gas and I had 33 miles till empty and I decided to skip the exit I saw in hopes of finding a Wendy's at the next so I could get a frosty and gas... BUT, there were NO gas stations! The miles till empty were steadily going down and there was no gas station in sight! But there was finally one with 5 miles till empty left. We sped off and arrived in KC at 7:41 PM. I changed in the car in about 2 minutes and ran into the Convention Center and got stopped by security because I didn't have a conference badge. She let me go by once I explained my situation and I ran upstairs and managed to meet with my managers (the ones the Boeing recruiter had told me were really interested in talking with me) with about 10 minutes to go until they were going to leave!

* * The managers turned out to be the manager who wanted to hire me last summer for an internship and her boss! They were just about the friendliest people ever and we really hit it off. We set up an interview for the next day at 10AM.

* * Karan and I went back to the hotel, checked in, ordered pizza, and went to sleep. We wanted to get to sleep as early as possible so that we could go buy shoes early in the morning (I only had high heels and I wanted flat shoes and stockings and Karan... had one shoe). So. Here is Karan's shoe story:

* * Wednesday night Karan took all of his stuff out of my car (including his shoes) so that he could do laundry. On Thursday when he was packing, he asked me if he had left his shoes in my car (he hadn't). He then frantically searched for them and accused me of taking them back to my apartment. We finally gave up and were about to leave when... he had a "blinding moment of clarity" and realized that he had left them on the VAN ROOF the previous night. He hopped out and there was one stuck in the rails and the other was GONE FOREVER! We searched for it because I had heard it fall off earlier but I had thought I had hit a tree branch or something.

* * Well, we didn't get a chance to go shoe shopping but I ran off to my interview at 10am and the managers really liked me and want to keep in touch. They don't really want to offer me a "letter of intent" for the specific job I was interviewing for but they pretty much said they would hire me for something (in Philadelphia) nearer to my graduation date. They also said that if there were any decision deadlines coming up that I should call them and let them know (presumably so I can turn someone down by getting a better offer from Boeing!!!)!

* * So that was good.

* * The career fair was good. Talked to lots of people. Got free stuff. Have some promising leads! I was also accepted for a first-round interview with Deloitte Consulting for the System Analyst position.

* * I stopped to see Jenn in Columbia on the way home. That was great! I love Jenn and I never get to see her.

* * Now life is crazy, I have tons to do.

* * But, I made a cup and a cone in glass blowing this evening and I am super excited!
