Yeah! For the world not ending!

Yesterday was probably the most incredible day I've ever had at CM-Life. When I walked into the newsroom at 9:05, the only other people in the office were Pam and Jenny. I went to my desk, hearing something about a fire on the police scanner. I didn't think much of it, because I had just stopped in to put my lunch in the fridge and turn my comptuer on. Then I heard High Street was closing, and I jumped up. I called almost every photographer we have until I found someone, then I started calling news eds and reporters. I had to call at least 30 people until everything was sorted out. It was a crazy high.

When I came back from class, Neil had issued a "code red," and changed our deadline to 10 pm (it's usually 12:30). Yeah right, I thought, with this craziness? Neil even bought the entire staff pizza so no one had to leave for lunch. We tightened the paper to 12 pages. Our budget meeting took a record 10 mintues (it has to be a record, right?).

On top of that, of course, the weather went bizerk. The stupid university didn't close until about 1:30, which did not give enough time to notify students. Everyone came for their 2 pm classes only to have to turn around. The parking lots were crazy. They were gridlocked for at least an hour. Cars everywhere, plus the shitty weather. I'm glad I didn't go outside the whole day.

Our theme yesterday was "The World Is Ending." I wrote it on the top of our budgets. It was kinda scary to think about, but when it started lightning, and the power was flashing, I think we all were getting a little nervous.

Our staff really pulled together yesterday. We've been having a few minor personalities clashes lately, but everyone forgot that yesterday. It was amazing. The B section was sent by 6, and A was gone at 8:20. Wow.

Last night a bunch of us went out to Bennigans to celebrate the day. It was nice. I gave Elly a ride home, and on my way back to my place, I turned left on to Broomfield from Mission and my car would not stop. I bounced off the telephone pole on the corner where Payless is. My car was trying to stop, so I wasn't going very fast. Luckily there was no damage to my car, and I just kept going. I am pretty sure the telephone pole is fine, too.

I'm really glad the world didn't end yesterday. There's still so much I have to do!

insanely awesome, work
