i can't sleep
someone recently made me think (although unintentionally) that perhaps I should make a list of the qualities I am looking for in a guy. since i usually have a hard time deciding what i want, this should be interesting.
here goes. in no particular order. just whatever comes to mind.
- confident.
- challenges me, but also listens what i have to say.
- reliable.
- sincere.
- good kisser.
- doesn't put me down in a mean way.
- can take and give good jokes.
- has goals.
- prioritizes well/can balance life.
- cute (looks aren't everything, of course, but the attraction usually starts here...).
- can give and receive a compliment.
- family-oriented.
- would do anything for a friend.
- unselfish.
- likes surprising me.
- is active (has to at least try to care about one's body).
- can and likes to cook... something, anything.
- wouldn't lie to me about the "important" stuff (not like if I ask you if I look fat in this dress, of course that's a NO!).
- is happy with oneself.
- enjoys making other people happy.
- likes dogs.
- does what he says he's going to.
- is not an alcoholic, but can have a drink once and a while and be fun.
- NO SMOKERS!
- gets along with my friends (or at least tries).
- would take care of me if i were sick.
- would let me pay for the movie.
- passionate.
- taller than me (this one isn't too difficult).
- would try anything once.
- good driver (helps me control my road rage).
- compliments (and i don't mean say nice things, the OTHER kind of compliments) my personality.
- can give constructive criticism in a helpful way.
- makes me feel all tingly inside.
- isn't afraid to admit he's wrong.
- willing to talk about anything.
- open-minded.
- cares about school, at least what he needs to do to accomplish those previously mentioned goals.
- smells good, but doesn't spend more time than me getting ready (and i get ready fast).
- easy for me to understand. i catch on slowly; sometimes i need a kickstart.
- likes or can appreciate me liking beaches, palm trees, tropical stuff, etc.
- sense of travel/adventure.
- can make staying in and spending time with me just as exciting as going out on some fancy date.
- will put up with the occasional chick flick
- isn't afraid to tell me he's into me.
- is a people person.
- not fake.
- gives good back rubs.
- will tell me i'm a good person if i start whining that i am not.
- doesn't make me feel pressured in any way, whether intentional or not (not sure if this is really something one can accomplish, but i can wish for it).
- makes me feel comfortable.
- can deal with my impatience.
- mature.
- can take a hint, but i shouldn't have to give them.
- doesn't bring me down, but rather lifts my spirits on a regular basis.
- really believes there is still good in the world.
- tolerates/appreciates my intense love of The Office.
- somehow manages to see me despite my ridiculous schedule.
- likes my family and vice versa.
- not a slob. not a neat freak. somewhere in the middle. leaning toward neat freak. but not too close.
*bonus!* reads my mind. :)
wow. that's a long list. and that's really only the stuff i can think of in my state of impossible sleepyness at the moment. no wonder i am single.
and the problem with this all is i don't even want a boyfriend right now. i can't deal with a relationship. but it would be nice to be able to find this person. because i really do hope to find all this in someone...someday... so that is why i set out to make this list. i should at least know what i want. that way if it comes along, well, then i will know... :)
