I Also Wouldn't Mind a Copy of the Avatar: The Last Airbender Soundtrack Either

It's amazing the things you'll find when you're not looking for them.  About a month ago, I was browsing in a used bookstore and found the soundtrack to Batman Beyond.  I mean, I had no idea such a thing actually existed, and yet here it was right in front of me.  Needless to say, I immediately snapped it up.  Simple having a copy of the opening theme song was worth the price of admission itself.

Recently though, it occurred to me that if someone actually thought to release the soundtrack to Batman Beyond, then someone just had to have released the soundtrack to Batman: The Animated Series.  I think it would only be a slight exaggeration to say that everyone who ever loved that show would kill for a copy of the soundtrack.  I know it's at the top of my "Soundtracks I'd love to Own if They Actually Existed" list.  So I did some searching and found a bit of good news, and some bad.

The good news is the soundtrack does exist, but you're still going to have to resort to murder if you want to acquire a legitimate copy.  You see, the soundtrack was issued in limited quantities by a place called La-La Land Records, which seems to have a cottage industry based around obscure soundtracks.  As much as they would like to reissue the soundtrack, or release another volume of it for that matter, they can't do a thing about it unless Warner Bros. lets them.  Good luck on that happening anytime soon.

There is at least one silver lining to this black cloud, in the form of the soundtrack to Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.  Yes, it's not the same as owning the soundtrack to the series, but it's still good in its own right.  In the off chance that you actually own an original release of the soundtrack, this one is still worth getting because it's remastered and expanded.  It's also being sold in limited quantities, but it's still available as of this writing, so hop to it if you want it.

music, awesome, random observations, batman
