Holy crap Emo Day went so well. I'll be sure to get at least a couple of pictures up on here so you can bask in my awesome emoness.
As I come to the end of Ramadan, my mind is slipping more often than ever. Today someone bought cheese balls from the a la cartè line, I took some, ate them, then, as I reached for more, someone said, "Hey, you're still doing Ramadan, right?"
Craaap... but I'm still good.
I definitely need to work on my concentration on this thing if I want to ride it out for the rest of the 30 days.
In other news, I found this book at the station called The Secret Language of Birthdays, and it's really an interesting read. Leave your birthday in a comment, and I'll be sure to find time to write out what your page in the book says.
DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST
The Day of Aesthetic Promotion
Those born on December 31 are drawn toward aesthetic experiences of many types. In careers they often work to promote beauty or harmony in one form or another. Indeed, many December 31 people display what amounts to a worship of literature, art, and music. But since making something beautiful often involves first getting rid of ugliness, those born on this day can also be concerned with locating, exposing, and eliminating disturbing elements in the world around them.
December 31 people must beware of dictating to others concerning what is or is not beautiful. They may need to be reminded that their opinions, no matter how studied, are simply another person's taste. Yet many December 31 people have an unerring sense of the needs of their society and perhaps a good idea of how to satisfy them. They are usually up-to-date pragmatists, not easily given to sentimentality or reactionary attitudes. Perhaps those born on this day are at their best when at the forefront of a mission to promote beauty and stamp out ugliness. All things that are ugly are a personal affront to them.
December 31 people can be very much taken up with their own personal appearance and the image they convey to others. Consequently they are usually well-groomed, well-dressed and put their best foot forward in social or business situations. They are less superficially narcissistic as practical; they understand that first impressions count and that one doesn't always get a second chance.
Harmony, stability and beauty are the principal ideals which December 31 people strive for in their personal and family lives. Rarely do they cause trouble when things are going well. Their self-knowledge rates high and with it an accompanying knack for satisfying their personal needs without arousing too much opposition. They know very well what they can and what they cannot do. Because they rarely take on a job they are incapable of finishing, they often succeed in their endeavors. Their goals may be modest ones, but they are attainable.
Less highly evolved December 31 people must beware of getting carried away by a crusading attitude and arousing antagonisms, negative energy and accompanying failures. They must learn to go about their business in a quiet, unassuming way and achieve the same results with half the trouble. Usually big displays of emotion work against December 31 people, and most born on this day are aware of this.
December 31 people know what side their bread is buttered on, and would prefer not to rock the boar, but if forced to make their opinions known can surprise others with unpopular views. Indeed, success often depends on their ability to bring their idealism and their pragmatism into balance with each other.
NUMBERS AND PLANETS
Those born on the 31st day of any months are ruled by the number 4 (3 1=4), and by the planet Uranus. Since only 7 months have a 31st day, it is a bit of an unusual number for a birthday, and the people born on these days are often hard for others to fathom. THose ruled by the number 4 can seem difficult or argumentative, since their views so often diverge from everyone else's. THose ruled by the planet Uranus can be quick and explosive in their change of mood. For December 31 people, however, uranian qualities are grounded by the influence of Saturn (ruler of Capricorn).
TAROT
The 4th card of the Major Arcana is The Emperor, who rules over worldly things through wisdom, the primary source of his power. The Emperor is stable and wise; the force of his authority cannot be questioned. The positive associations of this card are strong willpower and steadfast energy; negative indications include stubbornness, tyranny, even brutality.
HEALTH
Those born on December 31 may be very concerned that their skin and teeth stay in good shape. To guarantee this they must not only observe scrupulous person hygiene, by eliminate substances to which they are at all allergic from their diet. In addition they have to be very careful about their consumption of alcohol, sugar, and caffeine as well as their use of nicotine, particularly in their adolescence. December 31 people may want to invest in the necessary non-allergenic soaps, cremes and shampoos which work best to maintain their appearance. They do best on a diet which stresses a proper amount of oils and fats, and is balanced nutritionally. The December 31 love of beauty adapts well to the kitchen. Culinary experimentation is highly recommended for those born on this day. Moderate to strenuous exercise in suggested to keep their figures in shape.
ADVICE
Allow others their own tastes and opinions. Your crusading attitude can turn people off. Give advice mainly when asked, thereby avoiding confrontations. Be prepared to preserve harmony through compromise.
MEDITATION
To see the world more clearly we may need to take off our glasses.
