Five things make an entry

1. Walked down to Spadina's Chinatown in search of sunshades. This now qualifies as A Trek, and I'm mildly pleased I managed it without knees screaming at me as much as they might have. Bought a sunshade in white with writing on it-- calligraphic Chinese, I think, and no notion what it says. But the handle turned out to be way too short. The ( Read more... )

I think Brokedown Palace is supposed to give people the fantods. It's interesting how he's starting to work it into the universe as a whole, where I thought it was an independent standalone story when it first came out. I'm so behind on those books, several volumes, possibly a half dozen.

Also sunscreen smells. And sticks. And turns you into shake'n'bake if you're near sand.

Also my water pills mean I'm supposed to 'avoid prolonged or intense exposure to the sun' even with sunscreen. So yes, sun shades or umbrellas. (Umbrellas can be used for those sudden showers as well.)

Just try to find one with a long handle. Where you are, maybe a light-coloured umbrella would work better.

There's a shop here that custom makes umbrellas. I'm sure it's an arm and a leg, but it'll be cool to go look.
