Modcloth: Den of Fannish Pleasures

Sep 11, 2012 22:56

"Upon your arrival to the tiny hotel room you and your best friend will share for the next week on this spontaneous getaway to the Swiss Alps, you realized you packed all wrong. Just then, you spotted the natural-brown color of this cotton, corduroy skirt peeking out of the corner of her suitcase. You snuck it out while she wasn’t looking, pairing its sweeping length with a cozy ivory sweater and adding the fur stole you wouldn’t dare forget around your neck. When she returned, her jaw dropped at how fittingly beautiful the flared skirt of this side-zipped piece seemed for tonight’s dinner plans, and coming near to you to get a closer look, she whispered in your ear, “It’s yours.” Not knowing what to be more thankful for - a great friend, or the teeny bedroom that lead you to find this piece - you promised to wear this skirt tall and proudly, and to this day, you can’t remember a time when you felt more lovely."

This is the product description for a skirt on Modcloth.  I read it and said, "I ship it."

SOMEBODY FIND THIS COPYWRITER AND ASK HER TO WRITE ME SOME FEMSLASH.  OR SOME CLOTHING KINK?  MAYBE BOTH.

I really hope it's a fannish person.  I can just imagine her--or him!--writing fic on their lunch breaks, and then trying to get back to work, and going, "This is a brown fucking skirt.  What am I supposed to say about a brown fucking skirt."  And they peek over their shoulder, oh-so slyly, and then click over into their word doc with the femslash drabble in it.  "Yup," they say.  Crtl+C. Crtl+V.  They add some details about zippers and fit and "natural-brown color," aaaaaaaand done.

Maybe I should write product descriptions for a living.  *fantasizes about a regular paycheck*
