Aw, yeah! You're getting my jagon hard!

So my fantastic bouquet came from Japan today. I eagerly opened the package to reveal Akumajo Dracula X for Sega Saturn. About a week ago I had the urge to play it and went to get my psx copy out of the closet, only to find the case contained no game. Needless to say I was happy when I got it today.

I've missed this game so much and have been so eager to play it, so I hurried and got my Saturn out and hooked it up only to reveal......

my saturn doesn't work anymore....

God fucking damn it.

The motor works, the game spins and all but I get no picture on the TV. So I had to drop another $40 on ebay, and now must wait even longer. Having the game in my hands and being unable to play it makes me want to pummel the cutest of puppies.

At any rate, I also bought Street Fighter Zero 3 for saturn as well, as it's the best version of the game available. Worth the huge price tag. In the meantime, I've been playing emulators of my favorite fighting games (mainly SFZ3, KoF96/98/2000/2002, Fatal Fury RB2, Vampior Savior, Garou, Samurai Spirits 2) and console versions of SF2, SF3, KoF 2003, and Guilty Gear X2.

Playing all these games makes me realize how much I love them all. It also makes me realize that games like these will never be made ever again. Street Fighter, King of Fighters and Guilty Gear have not only always delivered great fighting engines, beautiful animations, and hours of fun, but they've delivered some of the best and most memorable character designs ever in a video game. Series like Soul Calibur, Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Virtua fighter have always seemed to deliver bland, forgettable characters that ultimately detract quite a bit from the game. With a few exceptions (Bryan Fury, Asteroth, Cervantes, and maybe a couple others) most of the characters in these games are either bland and thoughtless, or blatant rip offs of other games or movies. Tekken 5 comes complete with Bruce Lee, E. Honda, Jackie Chan, and Blade (complete with Wesley snipes voice). Not to mention generic Muy Thai man, Guy that kicks a lot, a grizzly bear, a wooden dummy, and a fucking kangaroo. And even though Virtua Fighter 4 is a great game (the only good 3d fighter out there imo), the characters are devoid of personality as well as fucking annoying (IIIIIIIII WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!!!!! /hulk hogan pose)

Granted there will never be another Vega, Iori, Terry Bogard, Joe Higashi, Chun Li, Demitri, or Geese, they could at least move away from cookie cutter movie heroes and generic angry tough guy designs.

Blah, long rant. Cliffnotes : I like video games. Games used to be better. Good games are released today, but in smaller volume than in the past.
