Coming this summer to a bookshop near you

I still have some work to do on it. To be precise, I have yet to see the galleys, and I haven't yet done the index, though I'm supposed to get the proofs, and instructions on how to go about the indexing, this Friday. But this is now out in the world for all to see. So I thought it was time to share it here.

This is monograph number three, the third scholarly book I've written. It is the first that will be coming out from a major trade imprint. I think that this marks a significant turning point in my academic life. My first two books were published by Africa World Press, a small publisher devoted to the niche market of African and Caribbean studies. This time, I'm in what, for me, is the big time.

The manuscript was subject to proper peer review by an anonymous reviewer who began by stating that he (I'm pretty certain that I know who the reviewer was from internal evidence) was "almost certain of the identity of the author". I'm also buoyed up by the anonymous reviewer's statement regarding me that "In general, I greatly respect his scholarship, erudition, and profound familiarity with Jamaican and Caribbean politics and history." It is good to know that my peers validate my work.
