First of all, let me say - I got the job I wanted! I start on Monday. No more subbing. No more classrooms full of craziness. And best of all, no more "Miss Dillon" because I can now just go by "Katy". Imagine that.
Ok, on to other things...
We got to the Flogging Molly concert real early on Wednesday so we'd be sure to get tickets. On the way inside, while still under the influence of a few margaritas, I spotted the singer and shouted, "Hey! It's the band!!" I waved at him and he waved back, giving me an odd look. When we got inside, we felt as though we were in prison. First of all, there were two crap opening bands we had to listen to in order to see Flogging Molly. And we couldn't leave because the signs plainly said 'No Re-Entry'. Second of all, we couldn't drink because beer was $5 a cup (for gross stuff that I don't like anyway) and soda was $3 a cup. Even water was $3 a cup. They clearly had us trapped. We sat for a long time until Mandy and I had the great idea that maybe if we pretended to be fans of the Street Dogs, the opening bands would be more fun. I jumped around to their music until I had shin splints. I also got a good look at the singer and realized that HE was the one I had waved at... not the Flogging Molly guy. Ouch. By the time Flogging Molly played, my shins hurt so bad that I couldn't dance. I was tired and hot and surrounded by weirdo spastic kids. We watched the band anyway because they are Flogging Molly and they are still wonderful.
Today is Forest Festival. I started the day by observing Matt and Taylor trying to sell raffle tickets for "Women for Women International". I will venture back outside when the sun comes out hardcore.
