Hello! C (aka fleasonparade), A, and I have been in St Andrews for two weeks now; I, for one, am loving it. As for why I love it, I present Exhibit A:
Do you have this in your town? I do not think you do.
That, by the way, is part of St Andrews Cathedral, which is one of two sets of ruins here. They make me very, very happy. Also happy-making is the fact that there is an OCEAN less than a half hour walk away. Perhaps I will feel less happy about this ocean when I have to run into it at dawn on the first of May, in order to cleanse myself of any curses I have accumulated over the semester. Yeah...this school is 600 years old. Just go with it. The main curse we have to worry about, by the way, is the one that shall befall us should we tread upon the spot where Patrick Hamilton was burned at the stake.
See the brick with a marking on it. A marking that looks LIKE A FACE? That's him.
He watches students of St Andrews (as he was one himself, before his unfortunate day-long burning - wet wood here in Scotland) to make sure they don't step on his dying place. If they do: CURSED FOREVER. Or they fail all their classes. Either one.
I will be sure to update more soon! Hello to anyone reading this back in the States, where it is TOTALLY COLDER than it is here. Who's laughing now, everyone who made fun of me for going to Scotland in February?
- K
P.S. Happy Valentine's Day!
