So it turned out that last week's attempt at purchasing dance shoes online wasn't successful -- the shoes were somewhat too small, and I'm going to need to ship them back. Fortunately, I was able to go with Eve (who also needed dance shoes) to the
Very Fine Dancesport Shoes factory, where we were able to take advantage of their "two pairs for the price of one" deal for "return customers." I ended up getting two pairs of shoes (one of which was half-off b/c Eve got one too):
The first pair was a set of dance sneakers:
I think these are probably the first shoes I've owned since high school which have laces. Despite their laces, they're still absurdly cool shoes. The sole of the shoe is split into two parts, allowing me to point my toes while still providing arch support. They also have a little flat spot on the bottom which allows for easier spinning. The toes are reinforced, so I can tip-toe on them easily, as well as land directly on them after jumping from concrete barriers. They're also pretty quiet to walk around in, much better than my beeping loafers. Plus, they're durable enough for me to use on a daily basis.
Taking the two-for-one deal into account, these cost $37.
The second pair was a set of saddle shoes, which cost $25 (they were on clearance):
These have suede on the bottom, and are more-or-less the stereotypical swing dancing shoe.
I also rather enjoy the shoe bags they gave me:
The audition for our Ceroc formation is tomorrow, so hopefully these shoes will serve me well!
