http://www.foamorder.com/acoustic.html

This place is in SOMA. I think there's a foam place in Berkeley, too - near 4th St? Maybe?

I've used foamorder.com for a mattress, and they're pretty good.

ha ha no, i just have an unused door on the wall between my room and my father's room and it's splitting a little, and he snores very loudly. tho actually, you have a point.

also, if the door is really not used, put soundproofing/eggcrate foam over the entire thing (so it covers even the door frame) and then place a bookshelf in front of the foam. keep it full of books.

between the foam and the books, you'll have great noise reduction. and it'll look nicer too : )

There's not even a door knob anymore, that is how unused it is. My dresser is in front of it, but that only goes about 2/3 of the way up. Maybe I can get a hutch to put on top...

Egg crate foam you can sometimes find at futon stores for cheap ... there's a futon place on San Pablo nearly across from Omega Salvage that willingly sells their foam bits for costumes so they might have pieces you can use (they have a wall covered in pictures of these costumes, so they are nice about understanding why on earth folks would ever want foam for things other than laying upon, my god.)

Acoustic foam is somewhat expensive when new, but maybe not for a single sheet ... perhaps as bren_jay suggests. A great place to keep checking back on is good old Urban Ore.

I'm poking my head around places nowadays looking for cheap materials since I'm not at work FT, so I'll keep my eyes out!

I have an old vinyl-backed shaggy rug I might just tack up, at least as a temporary measure. I'll cover it with a curtain and it'll look like I have a window over there, maybe...otherwise, i'll hit UO and the futon place (doesn't it have a big ol' FOAM HEADQUARTERS sign or something like that on the window?).

thanks!
